Val is Chilcotin on her mother's side and Shuswap on her father's side. She is registered with Canoe Creek Band. Val is the oldest of Lil's daughters.
Her singing career began in 2000 after watching her mother for many years. Her first time out, she had to sing in front of six hundred people. Talk about getting thrown to the wolves. On the new recording, Val sings alone with her mother in a song called "Bucky's".
Val graduated from the University College of the Cariboo and received her certificate in Applied Business Technology. Currently she works at Desniqi Services Society as Administrative Assistant.
