Co-founder of this drum group, Lil is also the lead singer. Chilcotin from Tsi del del (Alexis Creek Indian Band), Lil headed up this group in November 1993 and still going strong.
Lil grew up in the Chilcotin and was raised by her grandparents. From grade one to seven, Lil did her time in Residential School, the dreaded St. Joseph's Mission. Many obstacles had to be overcome from this experience, which had touched generations back to the mid 1800's.
Imagine a woman so shy, she couldn't look you in the eye, that was her. What an experience in becoming a drummer. Suddenly she is traveling through the community singing for hundreds of people and sometimes thousands.
The most common comment from many people is "Where does the sound come from, such a tiny woman?" Standing five feet one inch tall, she can belt the songs out and touch your soul. She has made many people cry with her voice.
Lil also teaches drum making, singing and beading. She may be contacted through email to discuss these teachings.
